About Chabad

What is Chabad

Chabad of Bristol is part of the largest network of Jewish social and educational organizations worldwide – widely known as Chabad Lubavitch (www.lubavitch.com, www.Chabad.org)

From his appointment in 1952, the Lubavitcher Rebbe was motivated by his profound love for every Jew and spurred by his boundless optimism and self sacrifice. Therefore, he set into motion a dazzling array of programs, services and institutions to serve every Jew.

The Rebbe sent out large numbers of rabbinic emissaries, known as “Shluchim”, to settle in places across the world for the purpose of teaching and inspiring their Jewish brethren. The vehicle chosen for this was termed a “Chabad House.” This is our home in Bristol, UK.

Rabbi Mendy & Chaya Singer with their family have made their home in Bristol a Chabad House, welcoming all Jews to learn and live Judaism with love, warmth and truth.

Chabad on Campus

Chabad is a "home away from home" for Jews on campus and offers a wealth of social, educational and spiritual programs at campuses across the globe. At university students are exposed to new ideas and experiences. Chabad is here to ensure that students graduate as stronger and more empowered Jews than when they entered.

In the early 1950s, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, began sending rabbinical students to campuses to serve as a resource for students. Since the 1960s, Chabad campus centers open their doors to every Jewish student regardless of background or observance level. Programming always reflects tolerant, non-judgmental and open discussions, which is the hallmark of Chabad's inclusiveness. A unique quality of Chabad's campus centers is the leadership provided by a dynamic couple who create an atmosphere where students feel safe and seek guidance on variety of social, education and spiritual issues.
